Exhibitions 2019+ (post solo gallery period)

Solo Collections - New Venue New Venture

  • Stiwdio Cynth Weyman Studio at 6 Furnace Road, Carmarthen

2019: 'Large Pictures in Small Rooms' collection of themed Fine Art water-colours transformed into my own Intaglio Strati textile relief technique and 'my posh scarves'. Visits to view pictures in a home environment are now by arrangement or during Open Studio times. They look quite different.

2019:  Open Studio Exhibition Dates in July, August, October and December. Please see 'Events & News' page. Some artworks are for sale too.

2019+: Intaglio Strati textile relief Workshops: Long-term 1:1 or 3 members for  2 hour sessions to suit your availability. Some projects are considered as commissioned workshops, whereby we work together to create the piece and its provenance.

2019+: Commissions Welcome. Installment scheme available for major artworks.

2019+: I'm working on a brand new series of themed paintings and Intaglio Strati textile relief art quilts and panels. During your visits, you'll be able to see some artworks in progress.


2020+ Future Exhibition Collections

Major collections will be available to medium and large galleries, exhibition spaces and theatres (up to 90 artworks).  Artist in Residencies also available. Special thanks to visitors who offer me more inspiration for future themes/commissions during their visits.


History of Cynth Weyman Exhibitions 2019-1979

Solo Exhibitions pre 2019

  • Oriel Inspired 2 Collect Gallery, Blue St, Carmarthen

2019-2014: Changing themed collections in my solo gallery during a 5 year lease (until May 2019).  My traditional fine art water-colours are transformed into my own contemporary technique Intaglio Strati textile reliefs. Images then metamorphosise into 'my posh scarves' in silk.

Themes include Pembrokeshire Seascapes & Rock Woman, Sir Gar/Carmarthenshire Castles & Towy Valley, Creative Jurneys - Figurative series of 'Hidden Strengths' and 'Diary of an Artist', and Botanical images.

Solo Exhibitions listed during 2019-2014 below were in addition to my all year round themed collections at my solo gallery 'Inspired 2 Collect' Carmarthen. Exhibitions 2014-2005 ran alongside studio work in Pembrokeshire at Springhill House Studio.

  • Y Ffwrness Theatre, Llanelli
    2017 February 28th - April 8th : 'Creative Journeys' solo show of paintings transformed into beautiful layered reliefs exhibited in an ultra contemporary setting - (64 pictures). Invited by Carwyn Matera Jones. Curated by Michelle Laugharne Perrot.
    Meet the Artist pre-performance sessions: 11th March, 6.00pm; 16th March, 6.30pm; 18th March, 6.30pm; 21st March, 1.30pm; 30th March, 6.30pm.

2015 Oct 2-30: ‘Escapism in Colour: Pembrokeshire’ (including two ‘Meet the Artist’ days - 90 pictures - 6 weeks). Invited and sponsored by Paul Davies AM Pembrokeshire.

    November 13th – 2 hours filming in my 'Oriel Inspired 2 Collect Gallery' towards a 5 minute interview in Welsh.

2015 May 20 – 1 June:  ‘The Colours Drew Me In’ ran during the Cathedral’s Music Festival. (80 pictures). Major collection and 2 week Residency by invitation.

2008: 'Artistic Collaborations' Cynth (formerly Hopkin) invited Sharron Astbury-Petite, Barbara Berkowitz and Paula Dean to join her 3rd residency. All 4 artists were members of Hidden Strengths Womens Arts Group in Leeds 1980-95. (90 pictures between them).

2017 & 2016: Art & Makers Xmas Fayre. My iconic 'Peach Sunset: Pwllgwaelod' textile relief image has now been integrated into the community centre's logo and has also been represented on the village Interpretation Board supported by the Pembrokeshire National Park.

1995-1983: Involved 23 members inc Cynth Hopkin (now Weyman). We ran and toured annual themed touring exhibitions in England which also included a sculptural communal piece e.g. The Cake (its 3D postcards sold out at the V&A Museum London); Edges; Hidden Strengths etc. Our aim was to show women artists at mainstream galleries - city, private and universities; museums and libraries at a time when it was mainly male artists. An extensive venues list is available on request - Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool, Hull and London.

Artlink West Yorkshire (new and additional arts career!)

1997-1983: Ran and became Director of a 5 county Community Arts organisation involving 6000 engaging 70 artists per year. Managed 10 staff for some time. Continued to exhibit occasionally with Hiden Strengths Womens Art Group.

Developed exhibitions by disabled painters and actors in mainstream galleries, museums, theatres and hospitals towards the Disabiity Anti-Discrimination Act. Created two studio projects  in our Arts Centre.

In addition to coordinating Artlink projects involving disabled people with additional needs in social and health service care, I ran the 1st conference in the UK 'Arts Venues & Disabled People' supported by architect Professor Nuttgens.

Also worked alongside Yorkshire Sculpture Park Access trail's development with Don Rankin, Yorkshire Arts Association (Access to Arts Venues consultant), West Yorkshire Playhouse (architect & access for actors with disabilities) and then furniture design via Gulbenkian course ran at Bretton Hall college). Trained Architecture students from Leeds Polytechnic and general student volunteers at Universty of Leeds.


  • Awards/Competitions (Arts & Others)

2014: 'Blue Reindeers for Blue Street' Christmas window display via Carmarthen Chamber o f Trade & Commerce (3rd prize).

2006: 'Best in Show' & 'Best Wall Hanging' Prizes at Llanidloes Quilt Association Summer Show for 'Double Running' competition (1st & category) - Brother sewing machine & Wintebourn fabrics which enabled me to work from 7 fabric layers to 15, thus developing my Intaglio Strati technique to very deep relief, involvement of perspective and increased dramatic colour tones).

2006: 'Window to the Past' garden competition at the Royal Welsh Show won Large Gold Prize. I designed and created the stained glass window commissioned by Aberglasney Gardens - a project in conjunction with The  Horticultural College of Wales students.

2004: 'Best Tourism Business in Carmarthen Award'  via Carmarthenshire Tourism Association (under 5 employees). (Runner Up).

1996: 'Woman of the Year - Arts & Care Award' sponsored by Yorkshire Evening Post  & Wheatfields Hospice. Shared with playright Kay Mellor.

1995: 'Arts & Health Award' - Ellerslie Centre coordination arts project via Yorkshire Arts Association and Huddersfield NHS Trust.


Pre 1979 Arts & Design Teaching Career

1979-72: CwmTawe Senior Comprehensive School (GCSE Art & Design). Ran several open  exhibition events in the Arts Department, specialising in young people with additional needs.

1979-72: Glanaman Youth Club (Crafts, First Aid & Duke of Edinburgh Award (Silver) in orienteering, camping, climbing, canooeing.

2017: 'Roots in History' book by Penny David about historic gardens in Carmarthenshire - invited me to include my 'New Growth - Aberglasney Gardens' painting and added information about myself as an artist. Penny also wrote 'Lost Gardens in Time' and seen on BBC TV.
